Biography

Birth

Wilhelmina was born on the 24th of February, 1900, in Utrecht^[1]. She was the second oldest child of Antonie Cornelis de Nijs and Odilia Fritz.

The translation of her birth certificate reads as follows: On this day the twenty-eighth day of February, nineteen hundred and six, we, the undersigned Registrar of Births, Deaths and Marriages of the city of Utrecht, have seen:

Antonie Cornelis de Nijs, workman, twenty-eight years of age, residing at home, Weteringstraat 24, who declared to us, that on the twenty-fourth of this month at five o'clock his lawful wife Odilia Fritz, without profession, gave birth at his residence to a child of the female sex, to whom the first names Wilhelmina Geertruida will be given.

This declaration was made in the presence of Gerrit Buisman, twenty-eight years old, and Jan Tabring, sixty years old, messengers, both living here, of which we have taken up this deed and read it to the declarant and the witnesses, who have signed with us.

Marriage

She married Johannes de Vries on the 2nd of January, 1919, in Utrecht^[5].

The translation of this marriage certificate reads as follows:

On this day the second of January, nineteen hundred and nineteen, appeared before us, undersigned Registrar of Births, Deaths and Marriages, in the House of Utrecht, for the purpose of contracting a marriage:

Johannes de Vries, excavator, born and residing here, nineteen years old, adult son of Bastiaan de Vries, workman, fifty four years old, and of Johanna Olthoff, without profession, fifty three years old, both residing here

Wilhelmina Geertruida de Nijs, without profession, born and residing alhier, eighteen years old, daughter of full age of Antonie Cornelis de Nijs, cleaner, forty-six years old, residing alhier, and of Odilia Fritz, deceased.

Annunciation took place here without interruption on the twenty-first of the previous month.

They have submitted to us: their birth certificates and the death certificate of the mother of the bride.

The parents of the bridegroom and the father of the bride declared to give their consent to this marriage.

We asked the future spouses if they would accept each other as spouses and faithfully fulfill all the duties imposed by law upon the marriage state. After they had answered these questions in the affirmative, we pronounced in the name of the law that they were joined in holy matrimony.

Witnesses were Anthonie van Leeuwen, janitor, forty-five years old, and Albertus Feenstra, messenger, thirty-three years old, both residing here.

Whereof the record, which was read in accordance with the law, is to be authenticated.

Death

Wilhelmina passed away on the 19th of November, 1962, in Utrecht^[6].

The translation of her death certificate reads as follows:

On this day, the nineteenth day of November, nineteen hundred and sixty-two, appeared before me, civil servant of Utrecht:

Lietze, Douwe Ruurd Johannes, messenger, fifty-three years old, residing in Jutphaas, who declared that on the nineteenth of November, nineteen hundred and sixty-two, at six o'clock, zero minutes, died in Utrecht:

de Nijs, Wilhelmina Geertruida, aged sixty-two years old, without occupation, born and living in Utrecht, married to: de Vries, Johannes, daughter of: de Nijs, Antonie Cornelis and: Fritz, Odilia, both deceased.
